Well barca couple of details the paras are finished. Have run out of Matt spray varnish so can't tick them off completely but it does mean I can start a new batch.
Here's the boys as they look now.
Whole thing includes the following,
14 recce jeeps
18 para bases
4 6 pdrs
4 17 pdrs
4 75mm pack howitzers
4 cut down trucks
4 light mortar
2 pioneer carts
1 flame thrower
11 command stands
4 pinned markers(injured paras)
And 3 hero stands, frost, urquhart, and sosabowski.
Almost forgot a glider pilot platoon.
There is way more stuff than actually needed but it's done so that the models can be used for every list in the market garden book. And if I pretend the piats are Boys rifles it will cover all the mid war lists too.
As usual, I got distracted from existing projects and started on the neglected box of Mongols.
These are from 15mm.co.uk
I bought them a few years ago for field of glory which proved rather tedious. So the poor wee figures got ignored.
So after seeing some superb 15's at a recent club day I started painting them up.
Here's a small sampler of progress so far.
Work continues on the village. A wee trip to the DIY shop to pick up a pot of masonry paint in mid stone colour and its starting to take shape.
First coat on half of the buildings and its looking promising.
Having a brief break from the horde of hairies, decided to mess about with my hexagonal templates.
So, they almost built themselves but here are the first 2 buildings for an idea I have had in my head for a long time.
First pic is of the weapons n ammo store, a highly lucrative business on frontier worlds.
The second pic is of the village bar, a popular refuge of star weary travellers and smugglers.
Well tonight i had intended to put up a few pics of the new recruits to the 15mm sci fi forces, however due to digi camera battery death this wont happen.
I'll maybe get some pics up tomorrow of them and if i get time a few other things on the workbench at the moment.
PS i think that would make an excellent band name,
Now for one night only.....DIGI CAMERA BATTERY DEATH!!!!!!
Finished reading book 3 of the progenitor trilogy at the weekend. Very interesting finale but felt it was rushed a bit.
Still all 3 books have kept me going for the last wee while and spurred on some painting of my 15mm sci fi miniatures.
The first pic is of 2 combat walkers and an apc, all from Khurusan. Very nice models and crisp casts. Also Khurusan are the figures(shown next to a 28mm for size comparrison).
The heroin with the gun is such a good sculpt its better than some 28's i own.
Continuing the SoBaH ice n fire theme, here is the latest lump of tin that will become another character.
The charming fellow next to Ser Barristan will be Ser Gregor Clegane. He is from Thunderbolt Mountains King Arthur figure range and is one of the giants.
The following pics are of some minis painted up for songs of blades n heroes.
I initially wanted to build my warband around the 'brotherhood without banners' from a song of ice and fire books.
however as usual i got distracted and painted up a couple of other characters from the story instead.
Hello and welcome to my new mindless ramblings on mainly miniature wargaming and other weird stuff.
This is the third attempt at a blog as the other 2 went pear shaped.
i have been inspired by many other blogs over the years so decided it was my turn, although that may be a drastic mistake given my total lack of computer knowledge.
It may be a bumpy ride but at least i will have a laugh along the way.
