Next project found!
This has been lying on the painting desk for about a year, time to sort that out I think.
Quick paint job on this one I hope it's a unit that probably won't ever see action.
A complete panzerwerfer platoon with optional rocket launching platforms.

15mm paras

Well barca couple of details the paras are finished. Have run out of Matt spray varnish so can't tick them off completely but it does mean I can start a new batch.
Here's the boys as they look now.
Whole thing includes the following,
14 recce jeeps
18 para bases
6 mortars
4 vickers
4 6 pdrs
4 17 pdrs
4 75mm pack howitzers
4 cut down trucks
7 piat
4 light mortar
6 observers
2 pioneer carts
1 flame thrower
11 command stands
4 pinned markers(injured paras)
And 3 hero stands, frost, urquhart, and sosabowski.
Almost forgot a glider pilot platoon.

There is way more stuff than actually needed but it's done so that the models can be used for every list in the market garden book. And if I pretend the piats are Boys rifles it will cover all the mid war lists too.

Also got an hq base for FoW and a pack of villagers too.
Should get the artillery built when I start my air cav infantry.

15mm paras

We'll the paras have finally made it back onto the paint table.
It was last years resolution to finish them off so it looks like I will be exactly one year behind plans!
Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of them before I started my holiday painting spree but here's a little pic of progress so far.
Should have them finished in the next couple of days, bar the 2 objectives I have planned for them and a couple of extra jeeps in case I want to use them as an air landing company.

Also, I hope this post turns out ok, first time using an iPad to post! And struggling with the camera a bit.

Early Xmas present

A silly little find on eBay was this woodcraft courtyard.
It appears to be close to 15mm scale but if it proves out of scale I'm sure it can go back on eBay.
May build it this evening and post pictures if things go well.

Wednesday, 23 October 2013

Well already missed a night to get on with these chaps so I better get my skates on.
All based up, I don't like building them this way but time is short so I have to do it the hard way.
Some sand on the bases to be done then a good layer of undercoat and we'll be motoring.

Last minute impetus army

Decided at the last minute to compete in an impetus tourney. This has led (or should that be lead) to desk mayhem.
I now have to build 10 bases in the next few nights to be ready.

Totally random

Well the trees got finished and look great, forgot to take pics so I've started something else.
The rebasing of celts and Romans continues and the mountain has been completed, just need to paint up his entourage and he's ready for some SoBaH.
The rebasing project.
The mountain next ser barristan selmy.

Project 'real woods' pt1

I have made the decision to stop buying new stuff this year and start on all the old projects that never got finished.

First off is project real woods. This came to being due to my dislike of crappy looking terrain.
My current versions of woods were a few trees on a bit of felt. Perfect for tournament play but I prefer more detail.

So a few quid was spent on woodland scenic tree armatures and clump foliage. These then had magnetic strip stuck to their bases.
The woods bases have steel washers placed around and will have foliage etc when finished.
Following pic shows bases with earth/dead leaves around tree positions and healthy greenery where the sun would shine.
More progress in the next blog.

A break from painting today, as I have dug out the space hulk boardgame and played a little sweep n clear with the colonial marines.
The marines have to rescue the colonists and clear out the infestation. So far so good, only 1 casualty and several 'nests' destroyed.

Back to normal 2

Well the infantry got finished over the weekend. Unfortunately the Vtols will have to wait the arrival of more spray cans for there 2 tone camo.
A pic of the progress so far
These are the heavy weapons and command units.
And these are the gruntz.
The specials and there APC
The commander gives orders to the assault units.

Distracted again!

As usual, I got distracted from existing projects and started on the neglected box of Mongols.
These are from
I bought them a few years ago for field of glory which proved rather tedious. So the poor wee figures got ignored.
So after seeing some superb 15's at a recent club day I started painting them up.
Here's a small sampler of progress so far.

Sci fi colony village part 2

Work continues on the village. A wee trip to the DIY shop to pick up a pot of masonry paint in mid stone colour and its starting to take shape.
First coat on half of the buildings and its looking promising.

Sci fi colony village

Having a brief break from the horde of hairies, decided to mess about with my hexagonal templates.
So, they almost built themselves but here are the first 2 buildings for an idea I have had in my head for a long time.
First pic is of the weapons n ammo store, a highly lucrative business on frontier worlds.
The second pic is of the village bar, a popular refuge of star weary travellers and smugglers.

Wee hairy men

The epic rebasing and painting of the Gauls continues, the desk is covered in them but i did manage to get a few bases finished off this week.
First up a base of skirmish javelins.
A vip and his entourage of naked fanatics.
More naked loonies.
And my favourite base so far, some typical warband types.

next post should see more of the same and possibly a certain SoBaH character.

Glutton for punishment

Well I had to sort it out eventually. The huge WAB army is getting converted to impetus.
9 chariots, and 150 infantry.
And this is just phase 1.
For reference pic shows about 1/4 of phase 1.

Interesting find

Found this on eBay, so I may spend Sunday converting my felt matts into giant battlecry boards :)

Friday, 8 February 2013

Well it's been quiet on the blog but this is again due to the digi camera battery death.
This has been resolved by the purchase of a new battery on eBay.
Normal service shall resume shortly.

Saturday, 2 February 2013

As promised here is a pic of 1 of 3 dropship/attack Vtols for my 15mm sci fi.

Cant decide if i should paint it up to match the walkers or go for the digi camo theme ive been trying out.

Wednesday, 30 January 2013

Well tonight i had intended to put up a few pics of the new recruits to the 15mm sci fi forces, however due to digi camera battery death this wont happen.
I'll maybe get some pics up tomorrow of them and if i get time a few other things on the workbench at the moment.

PS i think that would make an excellent band name,

Now for one night only.....DIGI CAMERA BATTERY DEATH!!!!!!

Wednesday, 16 January 2013

Finished reading book 3 of the progenitor trilogy at the weekend. Very interesting finale but felt it was rushed a bit.

Still all 3 books have kept me going for the last wee while and spurred on some painting of my 15mm sci fi miniatures.
The first pic is of 2 combat walkers and an apc, all from Khurusan. Very nice models and crisp casts. Also Khurusan are the figures(shown next to a 28mm for size comparrison).
The heroin with the gun is such a good sculpt its better than some 28's i own.

Tuesday, 15 January 2013

Continuing the SoBaH ice n fire theme, here is the latest lump of tin that will become another character.
The charming fellow next to Ser Barristan will be Ser Gregor Clegane. He is from Thunderbolt Mountains King Arthur figure range and is one of the giants.

Friday, 4 January 2013

And here are another couple of characters for SoBaH. presenting Lady Catelyn Stark and Sir Barristan Selmy.

Songs of blades and heroes

The following pics are of some minis painted up for songs of blades n heroes.
I initially wanted to build my warband around the 'brotherhood without banners' from a song of ice and fire books.
however as usual i got distracted and painted up a couple of other characters from the story instead.

Here are Anguy the archer, and Thoros of Myr.
Hello and welcome to my new mindless ramblings on mainly miniature wargaming and other weird stuff.
This is the third attempt at a blog as the other 2 went pear shaped.
i have been inspired by many other blogs over the years so decided it was my turn, although that may be a drastic mistake given my total lack of computer knowledge.
It may be a bumpy ride but at least i will have a laugh along the way.
